PCB Design Engineer for Wearable IoMT Devices (w/m) – Remote, Part-Time

Overview: As a PCB Design Engineer, you will be instrumental in the development of printed circuit boards for wearable Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices, focusing on creating precise and reliable designs that comply with medical standards. This remote, part-time position demands a high level of expertise in electronic circuit design, proficiency with PCB design software, and an understanding of medical device regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Design PCB layouts for wearable medical devices using industry-standard CAD tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCad.
• Generate accurate Gerber files to ensure manufacturability of designs.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM) that list all components including IC chips, resistors, capacitors, and connectors required for the PCB assembly.
• Select appropriate IC chips and other electronic components based on device specifications and functionality, ensuring compatibility and compliance with medical device standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and firmware developers to ensure seamless integration of PCBs with the device’s overall design and functionality.
• Conduct testing and validation of PCB prototypes to ensure they meet all functional and regulatory requirements before full-scale production.
• Maintain documentation throughout the design process to support regulatory submissions and audits.

Required Skills:

• Proficient in PCB design software and tools for generating Gerber files and managing BOMs.
• Solid understanding of electronic components and circuitry, especially in the selection and application of IC chips.
• Experience with electronic testing and troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work methodically on complex projects.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in PCB design, preferably in the medical devices sector.
• Familiarity with medical device regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 60601.
• Experience in handling the documentation and procedural requirements for medical device approval.

Work Mode:

• This position offers the flexibility to work remotely and is structured as a part-time role, ideal for balancing with other professional or personal commitments.
• Requires periodic check-ins and updates with the project team to align on design progress and milestones.
